Turning over the leaf

On the way to my hometown there is this pulp and paper mill that has been there for years and it has changed names twice. You can tell you are close to the mill because of the rotten egg smell. Since paper is an essential product, I believe our role is to make good use of it, and think of all the toxic pollution to air, water and land the paper mills cause. We can help saving trees from being cut down by avoiding excess waste and reducing the amount of paper we use, using recycled paper, printing double sided etc. I am sure we can all come up with ideas that make a difference!

Since the school computers here are automatically set to only one side printing and one cant change that, i write my notes only on the other side of the paper of old course whose notes i dont need anymore....my pantry is full of one-side printed papers to be used later...

great post , Cris!!!

I know that smell...We used to pass a paper mill on the way to my dad's farm when we were young.

This is a nice reminder to be more careful and not be wasteful.

Take care,
Connie

Eu me lembro bem desse cheiro enjoativo e desagradável, Cris! Bem lembrado falar do combate à poluição.

Recycling is very important with paper. I try to purchase recycled paper when ever I can, I use as litte as I can and Norm takes the excess (mail, etc) to the recyle place. We all need to recycle. But I wish there was a way to clean up the air around the mills.

I have to admit, I haven't been all that great on recycling, Cris...but I do agree with you. Thank you for this reminder...I'm going to try and do better! :)

thanks Cris for writing about saving the trees, the environment and recycling..
We all can make a difference:
if you are thinking one year ahead, sow seeds...
if your are thinking 10 years ahaed, plant a tree...
if you are thinking one hundred years ahead, educate the people...
Have a nice Sunday,
cheers Gisela
Thank you very much for leaving your comments on my blog.

Cris,

One thing I always did was to save my printouts to use the other side. Can you believe I still have paper from when I worked at the office, more than 11 years ago? Whenever I'm printing drafts I use those sheets, this way I save not only trees, but my money...
You mentioned such an important subject that people forgot to talk about the picture. You can "recycle" even an ugly and smelly plant into a beautiful picture!
