Back in time

My Great grandparents Virginia and Francisco lived here and they had 16 kids... Some of them were married already when they moved in, probably about 80 years ago. My mom first visited them in 1953, when one of my grandmother's brother got married and my mom was introduced to the family. My parents got married the year after that. Mom and dad say the house remains exactly the same. I have more pictures of this farm and I plan to show them soon.

I´m sorry, but I have to work much and come not around for so long.

What a pretty cottage. Looks sturdy, too. Guess it had to be for such a large family! My dad's family was pretty large, and they lived on a farm too.

Just think now everyone thinks they need their own room.lol
I bet there were some wonderful family memories made in that house.

Take care,

I can hardly imagine raising 16 kids in that little cottage. Wow ~ we're all spoiled with our big houses these days, but then you can bet that most days everyone was outside working hard on their farm.

Yes they had a hard life I believe. My grandparents got married back in 1928, so in 1953 I figure most of my Great grandparents kids had already gotten married.

And you know people were happy back then. Happier than honestly they are now with so many freedoms and choices and non appreciating what they have. I loved this post and look forward to more pics of the farm! What a great history.

How wonderful that you can go back and visit the place of so many family memories. It looks charming, but it must have been absolute chaos with so many children.

This house doesn't really look all that old, I don't think...it's so charming!
I love old houses and always wonder the stories that went on inside.
But 16 kids! Even though some of them were grown and gone, that is still a lot of people to squeeze inside! :)

Cris,

I'm glad you showed me this place, and even more now that I know the details about your family history.
It is a beautiful farm, and the coffee they grow there is one of the best I've ever tasted!

Hi Cris,
Nineteen children is a large family! That farmhouse must have been a very happy place to live :)

Cris, this house is very charming, white walls, blue fences. The house is so well mainteined up to now. I have an ideia of how difficult was their lives 80 years ago. No electricity, everything was hand made. They had to plant the vegetables, feed the chicken...cook in a antique stove (with fire woods?) and 16 kids, one after another. And we are always complaining about our lives...today!
