Take a look at the ocean...

River that meets the sea and separates mountains from sand.

Our final destination? Itamambuca beach, in Ubatuba, halfway between Rio and São Paulo. Nestled between huge green mountains and over a mile of white sand, it has excelent waves for surfers and clear warm waters for families to enjoy.

"Take a look at the ocean, far as your eye can see..."

Cris,
You're attracting many foreign visitors with your beautiful pictures, so please let me tell them what few people outside Brazil know: that some of our most beautiful beaches are those between Santos and Rio, like Itamambuca. I'm sure your next posts will confirm this!
One more thing: your picture of the surfboards should be in a photo contest! I'm proud of my daughter!

How did you manage to take the first picture, Cris? You stopped on your way down? Was it safe??
The surfboards are great... Where are they leaning against? Great perspective! ;o)

Geraldo, thanks so much for complementing this post with your comments. And thank you for the compliments "dad"!

Cinara, there are scenic views along the road, it is safe to stop and many people pull over holding their cameras already. The surfboard picture was actually taken at the place where you can rent them, you can also take surfing lessons there!

Sonia, Matthew West é famoso por compor músicas que falam de sua trajetória pessoal e encoraja as pessoas a encontrarem sua própria. A música citada chama-se "More." Beijos!
Mattew West is famous for describing his own story, but beyond that he also encourages people to find their own story.

Dear Cris,
It looks like paradise for sure there. Wish I could feel the sun just for a few moments.

Enjoy yourself and thanks for sharing such lovely pictures.

Take care,
Connie

Deana, and as you follow the road up to Rio the beaches become even more beautiful!

Susie, isn't it amazing how the ocean can bring us an inner peace?

Connie, indeed, paradise is the word, going back home that was what I had in mind. Have a nice one.

Cris,

Thks for the comment on the 90's. I left some thoughts on the Brazilian towns there. But São Paulo is huge: one hour to get to Dona Lucinha...
About the beaches between Rio and Santos, we had everything prepared to go to Paraty on November 1998, but the whole week was pouring, so we stayed in Rio. Anyhow, we still have a project to visit the beaches of Ilha Grande Bay!
